Grayhound defeated Chiefs 2-1 (16-13 Overpass, 13-16 Cache, 16-3 Nuke) to win ESEA Premier Season 25 Australia and qualify for ESEA S25 Global Challenge LAN.
The first map of the ESEA Season 25 grand final was Overpass, Grayhound's pick. The game was a tight affair from the start, with neither team managing to build up a significant lead.
As the game was nearing an end it seemed that Chiefs were in a position to run away with the lead and close out the map. However, Erdenetsogt "erkaSt" Gantulga shut them down, picking four kills with a pistol on the B site defense, only to one-up that in the following round by acing the opposing team.
Adding insult to injury, Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai picked up an ace on the A site defense in the round after that, practically closing out the first map in Grayhound's favor, with the final result being 16-13.
The second map, Cache, started well for Chiefs who won the CT pistol and the following two rounds, but Grayhound took control of the half when the guns rolled in, getting to a 5-3 lead.
Chiefs then swung the momentum back in their favor with a clean round win that was followed up by a Peter "pecks" Nguyen 4K on the A site defense, which helped his team take the lead. Grayhound ended the first half 8-7 down, but got back in the driver's seat soon, with a CT side pistol win.
Costly anti-eco rounds from Grayhound meant that a single won round from Chiefs flipped the economy game in their favor, starting a series of round wins for Tyler "tucks" Reilly's team. A crucial one happened as the score was 11-10, when Joshua "INS" Potter and Liam "malta" Schembri managed to resolve a 2v2 afterplant on B, despite both being low on HP.
Grayhound didn't give up without a fight, but Chiefs were able to close out Cache 16-13, moving on to Nuke. The decider started well from Grayhound who were able to end up on the winning side of some force buy chaos early on. Montheara "prakM" Prak and co. were shortly up 9-2 on the Terrroist side of Nuke, winning duels all over the map and entering bombsites almost freely.
Chiefs then managed to pick up a force buy win, but Grayhound continued plowing their defenses after that to finish the half 12-3 up. The run continued after the switch, with Grayhound closing out the game 16-3, winning the series 2-1.
